The club is planning a “Newbie All Grain Brew Day”, this is an opportunity to get hands on experience brewing an all grain batch of home brew. Participants only need to provide their ingredients (grain, hops, yeast) and a fermenter, we will provide the equipment. We will also have a cook out and beer tasting.
Both beginning brewers and non-brewers are encouraged to participate.
When: Sunday April 15th, 10:00 a.m.
Where: 9252 Pleasant Ridge Rd. Arlington, TN – You can’t see the house from the road so we’ll mark the entrance with balloons or something. I recommend using a GPS to find it.
What you need to do: Pick a 5 gallon recipe, purchase the grain, hops & yeast but wait until closer to the event, you want them to be fresh, you’ll need to bring a fermenter and full propane tank too. Be sure to get your grain milled.
If you need help finding a recipe, let me know and I can get you one or ask a club member. I recommend something simple with a single infusion mash and a 60 minute boil.
It’ll take about 4 hours to brew so we’ll have food and beer available to pass the time.
Please email me at communications@bluffcitybrewers.com if you are interested in brewing or lending your brewing equipment for the day (or if you just want to hang out with us).
Disclaimer: We are not disparaging Extract Brewing, there are plenty of great extract brewers in the club and they make some really great beers. We’re doing this event in response to the recent club survey that indicated members wanted more educational and social events.
I have only done extract and so I am REALLY excited for this newbie all-grain day!!! I’m sure I’ll be showing up with a few people.
Morgan, I’ll email you with the details
